Background
I started with the Wellcome Centre for Mitochondrial Research in March 2018 as a Bioinformatician, with aims to provide bioinformatic support to a range of projects within the department as well as developing my own research interests.
I completed my PhD at University of Aberdeen in Sept 2017. My investigations focused on the effects of Whole genome duplication on the evolutionary divergence of the Salmonid family. I obtained my MSc at Miami University (Ohio) USA, focusing on the evolution of sex chromosomes with focus on the X chromosome within Carica Papaya populations.
Areas of expertise
- Handling and analysis of Next generation sequencing data, with emphasis on de novo and referenced assemblies, targeted sequencing, RNA seq studies, intra and inter-specific analysis of genomic data.
- Computational workflows for data analysis including designing, building and utilizing computational workflows for the analysis of genomic data. My primary programming languages are Python and Perl.
- Phylogenomic analyses
- Population Genetic analysis
- Evolutionary genetic analysis
