Introduction
I am a Professor of Public Health and Primary Care Research at Newcastle University and Director of the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration for the North East and North Cumbria which includes all six regional universities and sixty health and care organisations. I am also an applied behavioural scientist whose research programme aims to improve physical and mental health and well-being, across the life-course, by promoting evidence-based interventions to reduce risk linked to health behaviours. I am a founding member of Fuse - a UKCRC centre of excellence in translational public health research and a lead investigator in the NIHR School of Public Health Research. I am also a Non-Executive Director of the Integrated Care Board North East and North Cumbria.
