I am a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon at County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
I studied medicine at Cambridge University and Addenbrookes Hospital. I graduated with First Class Honours ( BA ) and Distinction in Surgery ( MB BChir ).
After completion of basic and higher surgical training in East Anglia and the North East of England, I completed International Trauma and Lower Limb Arthoplasty Fellowships in Melbourne and Perth in Australia.
My special interests lie in the fields of hip and knee arthroplasty, revision lower limb arthoplasty, infection and periprosthetic fracture trauma surgery.
I am a committed educationalist and I have been appointed RCS (Eng) College Tutor, STC representative and Intercollegiate Examiner for the MRCS. I am currently reading for the Master's degree in Medical Education.
I have published widely with my main interests in biomechanics of joint replacement, infections of hip and knee replacement and periprosthetic fracture of the lower limb. As orthopaedic academic lead for CDDFT , I am also a knee clinical trialist and act as trust PI for several NIHR studies.
I am married to a local GP . I have 4 children, 2 dogs and an aquarium of tropical fish.
