Background
Martin Howell is a Consultant Clinical Scientist and is currently Head of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics Service Development within NHS Blood and Transplant. Previously he has directed clinical Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics and Molecular Pathology laboratories and has published extensively in disease and transplant-related immunogenetics.He holds an honorary academic post in the Translational and Clinical Research Instiute, Newcastle University.
Research
Develooment of improved methods of high resolution HLA and related immunogenetic genotyping for clinical application in transplant matching and for disease immunogenetics investigations.
Teaching
Lecturer in MRes in Medical and Molecular Biosciences Transplantation module.
