Roles & Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance and Development Manager for the Newcastle University Biobanks coordinating and maintaining the governance support for research using human tissues under the Newcastle University research Human Tissue Act Licence. Key roles in developing research collaborations, conducting internal and external audits, training delivery, quality documentation and consultancy.
Acting as an expert in the Human Tissue Act regulations, proactively support staff to discharge their responsibility, and independently provide professional consultancy support to researchers based locally and elsewhere.
Responsible for developing a long-term strategy to promote collaboration and develop the provision of samples to the research community, locally, nationally and internationally
Accountable for the provision, maintenance and on-going enhancement of a comprehensive Quality Management System, including the development of a sample tracking system and conduct of period internal and external audits to assess compliance with the Human Tissue Act and any other relevant legislation.
Develop and deliver appropriate training modules for University and NHS staff involved in research with human tissue samples - both in person and on-line (E-Learning).
