Current research
After completing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering focussing on tissue inflammatory and osteolytic responses to materials used for orthopaedic joint replacement, Shannon is now a post-doctoral Research Associate in the Newcastle University Translational and Clinical Research Institute. The current research ongoing forms part of a wider Tissue and Explant Analysis of Medical Implant Failure (TEAM) study which involves the investigation of tissue responses in patients undergoing removal of vaginal mesh due to adverse reactions.
