I am a Senior Research Associate in the Health Economics Group within the Population Health Sciences Institute and an NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) Fellow in the 'Enabling Methodologies' Theme.
I previously worked part-time with Prof Clare Bambra in the Social Determinants of Health team (2017-2019).
I was awarded my PhD in January 2018. My thesis was entitled 'Exploring Inequalities in Child Cognitive Ability, Psychological Well-Being and Adolescent Risky Health Behaviours', and was supervised by Dr Heather Brown, Dr Jing Shen and Prof John Wildman.
I have published papers in high impact journals such as Value in Health, Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health, Pharmacoeconomics and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, and contributed to reports for NHS England, NIHR, NICE and NHSA.
My current research interests include:

I have previously worked on projects related to the NHS 111 service, health and productivity, inequalities in infant mortality, end of life care for people with dementia, the HRQoL of children with obesity, laser therapy in head and neck cancer and different treatment strategies for brain cancer.
I also regularly work on technology appraisals for both the Newcastle Technology Assessment (TAR) Group and the Newcastle External Assessment Group (EAG) and am an advisor for the Newcastle Research Support Service (RSS) Hub.

Muath Alrashed: Identification and validation of a classification system for a malocclusion-specific preference-based measure of oral health-related quality of life.
