Project description
I will improve understanding of how various resources interact with and affect ship operations in port. I will develop an evaluation measure for evaluating port congestion level. I will also develop an optimal plan to reduce the negative impacts caused by port congestion. This will improve the efficiency and safety of port operations.
Methodology and objectives
I will:
- categorise port performance
- classify the level of congestion in the port
- identify negative impacts caused by port congestion
- propose an optimal solution for port construction and berth allocation plans to reduce negative impacts
Result
I will devise a new classification for the level of congestion in port. I will also devise a port performance category focusing on berth utilisation. I will explore the cause of the existing berth allocation problem. I will find the balance between increasing berth use rate while maintaining waterway safety in port. The results will also reveal the estimation of vessel emissions in port and tanker terminal shore emissions.
