Overview

The taught part of the course includes biofabrication and bioprinting specific content. You have the flexibility to select complementary modules and develop a bespoke course. You will also have training in general research principles, professional and key skills.

Biofabrication and bioprinting is a competitive research area.

The MRes is for graduates of:

  • life sciences
  • biomaterials
  • other relevant science or engineering disciplines

It is also for intercalating and qualified MBBS or BDS students. You can study the course as a stand-alone qualification or as an entry route to a PhD or MD.

The course allows you to experience a competitive research area. This is an area that is competitive around the world. It has roots in academia but also prevalent in industry.

Facilities

You'll study in the Faculty of Medical Sciences. It sits within the Newcastle University City Centre campus.

The Faculty is also home to:

It is on the same site as Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary hospital. We are one of the largest integrated teaching/hospital complexes in the country.

Our facilities include:

  • individual research laboratories
  • a dedicated medical library with a wide range of specialist books and journals
  • hi-tech computer clusters and study spaces
  • dedicated facilities for a range of key bioscience applications. These include flow cytometry, bioinformatics, imaging, genomics and proteomics.
