Aims
This is a capstone module for the programme.
The analyst report is designed to help students to analyse and synthesise the knowledge acquired in the compulsory programme and to use it in an extended study. The report involves undertaking a financial analysis and strategic assessment and valuation for a listed company (chosen by the student), culminating in an investment recommendation.
Outline Of Syllabus
The module is compulsory for students on this programme and based on the students’ own research. Students are required to undertake a financial, strategic analysis and valuation of their chosen company and to produce an analyst report on the company. The actual contents have already been covered in the core modules on the programme. The preparatory sessions are designed to outline clearly what is required and provide a chance to ask questions.

Teaching Rationale And Relationship
This module is based on students working on their own. Students apply knowledge and skills acquired from the compulsory taught modules on this programme to produce an analyst report on a chosen listed company. The company selection lecture provided in late Semester 1 or early Semester 2 is to help students select an appropriate company for dissertations, which will be followed by company selection submission and approval during the first weeks of Semester 2. During the company submission window, drop-in Q&A sessions will be provided to answer your queries during your company selection process. The dissertation preparation lectures after Semester 2 final exams are to help students frame their dissertation analysis. The supervision meetings provide the opportunities for you to discuss with your supervisors/markers the questions you are encountering and obtain feedback specific to your dissertation.

Assessment Rationale And Relationship
The dissertation gives students the opportunity for undertaking independent research into their chosen company, and the opportunity to utilise the material and skills acquired in compulsory taught modules. Each thesis will be assessed by two examiners with appropriate expertise and will be also checked for plagiarism.
