Introduction
I work in the Research Grants and Contracts team which is part of Research and Innovation Services. The team's role as a whole is to provide support to academics and school staff following a successful award
Background
I joined the University in 1989 and have worked in varied fields such as Adult Education, Continuing Professional Development, conference management and the original Technology Transfer Office. I moved into Grants and Contracts in 2005 as a Grants Administrator before taking up my current post in 2008
Roles and Responsibilities
As one of the contract managers, I provide advice and support on a range of activities to staff in the research environment from the initial application through to project set up. This includes;
- Checking, negotiating and accepting terms and conditions of award.
- Drafting/negotiation of contracts - including collaboration agreements, subcontracts, studentships and confidentiality agreements.
- Liaison with the relevant services in the University to ensure effective management of the award.
Additionally, I am an authorised signatory of the University for research applications when required.
I currently work part-time and my working days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays
Qualifications
BA Combined Honours (Literature and Psychology)
Post-graduate Diploma in Secretarial and Business Administration
