About the programme

Mapping review and evidence gap maps (EGMs) are new tools being used in reviewing evidence. They help:

  • in cases where multiple types of intervention are evaluated
  • to provide a visual overview of evidence, representing types of interventions and outcomes
  • in identifying gaps in evidence and where future research should focus
  • to inform decision making in policy and practice

This course will:

  • provide an introduction to mapping reviews and EGMs
  • outline the gap-map methodology
  • include examples of how systematic reviews are used
  • give you an opportunity to work on developing an EGM
