Study Abroad with English

This course enables you to combine English language study in the UK with the chance to take academic modules to gain university credit. This course is full time for 2 terms.

Completion of this course can give you extra credits for your home university, or prepare you for study at a UK university. 

The experience of studying abroad can offer you a huge advantage in terms of academic success, as well as developing your cultural understanding and experience.

Module and Learning

The module and programme information below is for 2023/2024 entry. 

INTO Newcastle's Study Abroad with English course is divided into two parts. 

Part 1

This consists of full-time intensive study of English language and study skills at INTO Newcastle University for a minimum of one term. 

This will enable you to reach the level required for studying academic modules. You can join the course at different entry points depending on your language level and individual itinerary.

You need a minimum 5.0 IELTS to join Part 1, with minimum 6.0 IELTS to progress to Part 2.

Part 2

You will study individually selected undergraduate academic modules at Newcastle University, alongside UK and international students.

You can select academic modules from a wide variety of subjects in consultation with your tutor and the University's Study Abroad Office.

This will depend on your English language levels, subjects you have studied before and module availability.

Examples are:

  • accounting and finance
  • architecture and planning
  • computing
  • engineering
  • management
  • politics

During Part 2, you will also continue to benefit from English classes to complement your academic modules. 


Entry requirements

To study on this course you need to meet the following entry requirements. 

The entry requirements below apply to 2024 entry. 

Academic requirements

You must have successfully completed at least one year of study at university or college overseas. 

You should provide a statement of your previous study with a personal statement explaining which subject areas you would like to study during Part 2 of the course. 

English requirements

You need a minimum 5.0 IELTS to join Part 1 for two terms, with a minimum 6.0 IELTS to progress to Part 2 of this course. 

Age

You need to be 17 years old, or older.

Textbooks

The cost of your textbooks varies depending on how many terms you study. It is approximately £90 per term.
