Studying while supporting a dependant, whether it is a child, or an adult can add additional costs and considerations to your experience.

Financial support
- You can apply for grants to support you with the additional costs that come with supporting a dependant.
Practical support during your studies
- Student Wellbeing provides information, advice and guidance on a wide range of student support issues to enable all students to maximize their potential whilst at University. Support can include, student finance, counselling and mental health, help for students with specific learning difficulties (such as Dyslexia, dyspraxia or Asperger’s), disability (including long term chronic conditions), faith, health information and general wellbeing.
- Baby changing facilities are available on campus at the following locations:
- King’s Gate Level 2
- Hadrian Building
- Students’ Union
- Philip Robinson Library
- There are dedicated nursing rooms on campus. These are identified on our interactive campus map in the following locations:
- Room 221 - Philip Robinson Library
- Room G.08B - Herschel Building
- Room 1.01 – Margaret Barbour Building
- The Welfare and Equality Officer at the Students’ Union has been elected by the student community to represent all liberation and minority groups including student parents.
- The Welfare and Support Centre at the Students’ Union can offer advice and provide support.
