Meet Adwyait

Business Analytics MSc

Hello, my name is Adwyait. I’m a postgraduate student from India. I chose Newcastle University for its strong academic reputation and emphasis on research and innovation. The supportive environment, state-of-the-art facilities, and vibrant campus make it the ideal place for personal and academic growth.

I chose to study in the UK because of its world-renowned universities, specialised programs and globally recognised degrees that align with my career aspirations. Additionally, studying abroad offered me the chance to experience a diverse culture, enhance my independence and develop a global perspective.

I want to mention how impressed I was by Newcastle’s events in India, and the help the team provided when applying for scholarships and other funding opportunities.

A vibrant city to explore

What has stood out most to me is how friendly and approachable everyone in Newcastle is. From University staff and students to locals in the city, there’s such a strong sense of community. It’s the kind of place where people are genuinely kind and happy to help, which made settling in so much easier.

Newcastle has such a vibrant atmosphere. I love browsing Quayside Market, hanging out in Ouseburn or experiencing the city’s food and music scene. Beyond the city itself, I’ve taken the chance to visit places like Tynemouth.

Practical learning and networking opportunities

Education in my home country can be very theoretically driven. I wanted my postgraduate studies to be practical to help advance my career. So far, I’m enjoying the focus on developing professional skills. And having worked in IT, I can see how valuable this course will be. It impresses me how the University continually improves the course by listening to student feedback.

I’ve also been amazed at how many opportunities I’ve had to network and create connections. I’ve attended several job fairs on campus where I had the chance to connect with recruiters from various companies. We also look at case studies to gain insights into different industries.

I’ve participated in trips to London and Newcastle, where we visited companies like PwC, Incendium, Barclays, and Mediaworks. These experiences have helped me build my confidence in networking and given me an idea of the skills employers look for

An inclusive community

The way the University focuses on creating an inclusive environment through cultural events is exceptional. I have also benefitted from attending a wellbeing seminar which gave me the resources I needed to cope with stress. One of my favourite places is the ResLife socialising space – it’s been brilliant for meeting new people and spending time with friends.

Outside of my course, I have joined the Consulting Society and the Business Society. I have enjoyed how becoming a member has provided real-life case studies to work on. At the same time, I also meet people who think similarly to me and share my aspirations.

Clarity around my career path

Newcastle University has helped shape my future by providing excellent teaching and career support. Through my degree, mentorship, and networking opportunities, I’ve gained clarity about my career goals. I now know I want to be in a data-driven role where I can create great business impact.

I’d recommend Business Analytics MSc at Newcastle to anyone passionate about leveraging data to drive decision-making and solve complex business problems.

My studies have combined analytical skills, technology and strategic thinking, offering diverse career opportunities in a data-driven world. This also makes it highly relevant and impactful across industries.
