Meet Hana

International Business Management with Placement BSc

About Hana

Hi, I’m Hana. The education system in the UK is very different from back home in the Czech Republic. It’s much more practical – my course is fun, engaging and useful. What I’m learning now will give me a massive advantage when I’m job hunting in the future.

I’d heard from many people that Newcastle was perfect for international students like me. The University is also part of the Russell Group which shows its prestige. Applying for a place was very easy – I did it through UniLink who helped with my application, reminded me of key dates and helped with my visa.

Travelling from home to the UK is also straightforward, with great flight connections from Newcastle International Airport.

Student life at Newcastle

There’s so much I love about being a Newcastle student – the interesting people you meet, the warmth of the University staff, the vibrant student city. When I first got here, I did experience some culture shock, but I embrace it all now.

The social aspect of student life is great. I lived at Park View (University-owned accommodation) which was a great way to meet lots of people. I’m on the committee of the European Law Students' Association (ELSA) and play tennis.

Exploring my interests

I love everything about my course. Newcastle offered exactly what I was looking for – the chance to develop business skills while learning a language. I’m planning to do my placement in Germany or spend a year abroad studying there.

I’m not sure what I want to do in the future, but being able to study lots of different modules is giving me the chance to explore all the possibilities and find what I enjoy.

The Careers Service have been helpful. I didnt know how to write a CV for jobs in the UK, but they have helped me with this, as well as offering advice about Study Abroad opportunities.
