Claremont Quadrangle
Claremont Quadrangle: Bordered by the 140-seater University restaurant The Courtyard, and Merz Court, Cassie Building and Claremont Tower teaching buildings is this open green space and seating area at the heart of Campus.
Great North Museum
The Great North Museum: Hancock, located on the edge of campus, reopened in 2009 following a £26 million extension and refurbishment. The University is a lead partner in the museum, which displays 3500 objects from its extensive collections.
Hatton Gallery
Situated in the Fine Art Building in the Quadrangle, the Hatton Gallery stages a programme of historical, modern and contemporary art exhibitions and events. The Gallery works closely with our students to exhibit their work on an annual basis.
King's Gate
Our £35 million King's Gate building brings our student services together under one roof. Services housed here include Careers, Accommodation, Student Wellbeing, Student Finance and Newcastle University Alumni. It also houses our student enquiries desk.
The Quadrangle, Arches and Hatton Gallery
The Quadrangle is the oldest part of the University campus. In 1949 it was turned into a memorial garden for members of the University who gave their lives in the two World Wars. Its picturesque gardens often provide the setting for graduation photographs.
Sports Centre
The £5.5 million sports centre provides an extensive suite of indoor facilities and acts as a base for our physical recreation and sport service.
Students' Union, The Arches and Northern Stage
Our Grade II listed Students' Union is at the centre of student life on campus, with outstanding facilities following an £8m refurbishment. This includes a huge gig and events space, 24-hour computer clusters, Starbucks, and a bar.
The Student Forum
Adjacent to the Students' Union Building, the Student Forum is a pedestrianised area in the centre of campus. It provides a pleasant green space, with landscaping and artwork, for students to congregate in as well as revealing the impressive facade of the Grade II listed Armstrong Building.
