About Us
We’re one of Newcastle University’s Centres of Research Excellence (NUCoREs).
Neuroscience is an inherently interdisciplinary field that depends on the expertise of scientists in multiple specialities.
The Centre for Transformative Neuroscience is a university-wide entity that brings together:
- neuroscientists
- clinicians
- computational scientists
- engineers
- chemists
- speech and language therapists
- and other specialists
The lead faculty for the centre is the Faculty of Medical Sciences.

- is open to all colleagues engaged in neuroscience and related research
- encourages the formation of new teams to develop interdisciplinary research or teaching initiatives
- builds on existing and emerging links with external partners
- embraces an ethos of multidisciplinarity and inclusivity, and engages all career stages
