Cognitive Systems
This covers our neuroscience expertise related to sensory and cognitive systems. It also incorporates our strengths in mental health disorders and degenerative brain disease.
Our emerging work is identifying links and synergies between these brain systems and disease states. For example:
- identifying the link between hearing loss and dementia
- understanding the decision-making processes in the brain and how these link to mental states in health and disease
- exploring how research in predictive coding may underlie psychiatric disease through intolerance of uncertainty
- investigating the neurological and psychiatric consequences of COVID-19
