Aims
The aims of this module are to:
• develop students' ability to design experiments and interpret scientific data.
• integrate and refresh knowledge (mainly on techniques) from different parts of the programme.
• provide opportunities to obtain help with revision ahead of the finals examinations, from representatives of the compulsory stage 3 modules.
Outline Of Syllabus
There is no defined syllabus for this module as the intention is to facilitate revision of topics already taught throughout the degree and provide practice at comprehension and interpretation of scientific writing.

Teaching Rationale And Relationship
Lectures and lecture materials will support students learning how to design experiments, how to carry out basic calculations, how to understand basic experimental techniques and will be interleaved with additional practice at examination-style questions during the workshop sessions.
Workshops will be hosted prior to the examination and provide additional practice sessions for calculations-based questions and data interpretation, as well as interactive Q&A sessions to enhance learning of the course material.
Revision workshops for other modules will include coverage of some key techniques that will have been referred to from across the degree.

Assessment Rationale And Relationship
Examination tests the ability of an individual student to recall and integrate information under time constraints over a range of topics ranging from laboratory calculations to interpreting scientific data. There is no in-course assessment; marks from the examination, conducted in the main Semester 2 examination period, will account for 100% of the module mark weighting.
