A number of Newcastle University projects have been shortlisted for the prestigious Times Higher Education awards 2018, including the top accolade of University of the Year.

The University has been shortlisted for University of the Year in recognition of its contribution to Freedom City 2017, the year-long programme commemorating the 50th anniversary of Dr Martin Luther King Jr being awarded an honorary degree by Newcastle University.

In 2015 Newcastle won the award for 'outstanding support for students' at the Times Higher Education Awards. 

We are proud to have received national recognition at the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards.

In 2017 our partnership with Seven Stories won the Knowledge Exchange/Transfer Initiative of the Year category.

We won the Outstanding Leadership and Management Team category in 2013 and 2015.

In 2012 the University’s Staff Development Unit won the 'Outstanding Contribution to Leadership Development' category, and in 2011 won the 'Outstanding Library Team' and 'Outstanding Estates Team' categories.

Newcastle has also been shortlisted in the following categories:

  • Excellence and Innovation in the Arts
  • Widening Participation Initiative of the Year
  • Outstanding Contribution to Sustainable Development
