Eduardo Mendoza is one of the most distinguished Spanish writers of all time. The recipient of numerous literary prizes, such as the Cervantes prize in 2017, he worked for 10 years as a translator for the United Nations before embarking on a successful literary career. He has mastered the crime fiction novel in celebrated works, such as La verdad sobre el caso Savolta (1975), combining a sharp eye to dissect reality with traces of humour and the surreal.
