In the footsteps of Thomas Tallis
Kerry McCarthy, Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professor, Newcastle University
Date/Time: Thursday 7 December 2017
Thomas Tallis, one of the most performed and researched composers of Tudor England, died in November 1585 aged 80. He had survived, and helped create, more radical shifts in musical practice than any composer before him. This talk is a guided tour through his long career: the places he made music, the people he knew, and the changing cultures surrounding him in Renaissance England.
