‘Gender sensitive’ cities – why should we care? (Thomas Sharp Lecture)

Since the UN’s call for gender equality, gender mainstreaming has been brought into urban planning and design. This lecture explored how gender plus concerns – including the reconciliation of paid employment and unpaid care work, personal safety and transport – remain important for city planners and designers, and asks if there is more for academics, practitioners and policymakers to do.
