Professor Julie Sanders is Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Newcastle University and Professor of Early Modern Literature and Drama. In this lecture she explores the plays by Shakespeare and his contemporaries, many of which were written in the context of plague outbreaks. Professor Sanders looks at the parallels between Shakespearean times and the lockdown we are experiencing at the present time.
The lecture also explores the Sunday Times Bestseller Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell.
